CHRISTMAS WINTER GOOD TIMES

The Embers Collective Present: Christmas Winter Good Times.

The Embers Collective Present: Christmas Winter Good Times. | UK Theatre/Arts Reviews | DesignMyNight

Come and join The Embers Collective on 12th December for some Christmas Winter Good Times in the delightful Doña Bar, Stoke Newington.

We have got an absolute midwinter treat of a show for you as performing with us are, none other than Sam ‘Rixy’ Rix, Tim Karp, and our special guest Jim Clapp. Here to fill your stockings with hilarious stories, songs and plenty of laughter.

About our special guest:

Self-proclaimed ‘Theatrical Titan’, Jim Clapp has bestrode the North-London Pub Theatre scene like a colossus for many years. He has kindly agreed to come and give a workshop on the great British Christmas tradition, Panto.

The last time he was at Doña he got someone to pretend to be a cow and shot them in the head. So this is not to be missed.

The Embers Collective are a renowned storytelling and live music ensemble based in London. They have created work for The Southbank Centre, VAULT Festival, Wilderness, Shambala, Soho Radio and blah, blah, blah, blah. You get the gist. We’re great.

So grab your tickets and come on down. We’ll save you a seat. If you’ve got a ticket.

Merry Christmas Winter Good Time.

The Embers.

P.S. Rixy promises he’s not as serious as his picture suggests.

P.P.S. Aren’t you impressed we managed to get through a whole bit of Christmas promo without saying ‘Festive Fun’…oh wait.

Campfire Club with The Embers Collective

The Nest Collective invites you to enjoy a beautiful outdoor concert with The Embers Collective.

Every week from June to September, we gather in beautiful green spaces across London to hear extraordinary music by artists from all over the world.

In the simple way that people have done for thousands of years, we come together around the fire to enjoy music, food, drink, and the company of others.

The Embers Collective is a London-based storytelling explosion. Combining dark, twisted and hilarious mythology and folklore, with an ever-evolving musical landscape, The Embers Collective do storytelling like you’ve never seen it before.

Booking at https://thenestcollective.co.uk/events/campfire-club-2021-17

What the audience said:

“Getting to hear live music after so long was deeply emotional and the feeling of collective spirit (especially now) was really powerful.”

“The sun setting over the garden and Thames and the amazing overall relaxed (yet ‘safe’) ambience of the event. Very moving to finally be at a live gig.”

“The beautiful venue, the beautiful music, the beautiful weather! Thank you so much.”

“This was my first live music event since the beginning of the year and, although the acts were brilliant, I think what will stay with me is the joy of being with people and enjoying the moment together. I feel very grateful to you all for putting on the event.”

“This event was phenomenal. I cannot wait until I attend another one… the musicians were something else. I certainly didn’t feel as though I was in Peckham, but some enchanted woodlands”

“Walking into a wonderland of nature with beautiful music and people, it made me feel wonderfully elated.”

“The atmosphere was incredible, I knew I would love the music but I loved the atmosphere just as much.”

This event will be following the most up-to-date guidelines around Covid-19. We will email all ticket holders with more information on what to expect.

The Embers Collective & Stumble Trip Theatre

Woodburner's summer festival turns to the art of the story for one night only. After a six month break in live performing, Embers are delighted to be teaming up with their sisters in stories Stumble Trip Theatre to bring you an uplifting, eclectic mix of alluring adventures, magical myths, fizzy folklore and majestic music.

THE EMBERS COLLECTIVE

The Embers Collective is a London-based storytelling explosion. Combining dark, twisted and hilarious mythology and folklore, with an ever-evolving musical landscape, The Embers Collective do storytelling like you've never seen it before.

Drawing from a growing contingent of between 20-25 storytellers, musicians, poets, actors, dancers, clowns and performers, The Embers Collective have been putting on sellout events for the last four years; in London, the UK and beyond. Favourites on the festival circuit, they have devised shows for Wilderness Festival, Shambala Festival and Meadows in The Mountains Festival.

They have built up a dedicated and ever-growing following who attend their monthly events across London.

The Embers Collective also host a storytelling and music podcast twice a month and during lockdown hosted a number of online events, however it is live and in the flesh that The Embers Collective really come to the fore.

STUMBLE TRIP THEATRE

Stumble Trip Theatre was created by Chloe and Grace in 2017 when they met at the Jacques Lecoq School, Paris.
Their first show ‘Heather and Harry’ toured in the UK and internationally. “Boundlessly energetic Lecoq trained clowns... create a theatrical experience that is truly unique” - Three Weeks.

They are currently developing their second show Frills and Spills - “an hour of excellently timed, infectiously funny, joyous clowning” AYT - which will tour the UK in 2020/21.

The Embers Collective and Stumble Trip Theatre teamed up together for their first Woodburner show last summer at the Curve Garden, and we are delighted to be bringing them together once again on the 28th of September for a special evening of stories and music.

Audience reviews of our other Queerstory events:
'An incredible milieu of rambunctious poetics and song stories. Woven in rich tapestry with themes so often hidden. Thank you deeply xxx'

'A truly brilliant evening. The storytellers and stories were diverse: some using folk tales or Greek myth as a starting point and others (so far as I could tell) wholly original. Every one was a delight: moving, funny and thought-provoking. High praise too for the musicians, whose backing worked like the best movie soundtrack, pointing up the drama, accentuating a joke or enhancing a mood, but never obtruding. The other delight was the friendly. responsive audience. I had never heard of Embers Collective before but now I'm a fan.'
