Women Warriors

Pagan folklore is filled with stories of strong, fighting women and goddesses. In the British Isles, prior to the arrival of Christianity, women were worshipped as the harbingers of all life and were allowed to bear arms and become Druids. They were treated as men's equals and were honoured as much for their minds as for their bodies.

We will be bringing you stories of fighting women and goddesses from around the world as always accompanied by the multi-instrumental soundscapes of Tim Karp.

An Evening of Norse Mythology with The Embers Collective

"Before the beginning there was nothing- no earth, no heavens, no stars, no sky: only the mist world, formless and shapeless, and the fire world, always burning."- Neil Gaiman, Norse Mythology.

The epic tales of Norse Mythology are ones that have inspired storytellers, writers and artists for centuries. Rich in complex, amusing and often bewildering themes, these tales shine a light on a peculiar and ancient people and their belief system. Lord of The Rings, Game of Thrones, Vikings, Marvel Comics and many more have all found their monsters, gods and wars in the flames of the Norse tales.

From the formation of the cosmos out of the void between the world of ice and the world of fire, to Ragnarok: the destruction of the cosmos and everything within it, The Embers Collective will take you on a journey deep into the heart of Yggdrasil, The World-Tree. Along the way you will meet Thor, Odin, Loki, Fenrir, Hel, Tyr, Freya, Baldur, Hod and many more.

Once again we will return to the beautiful Sutton House, London for two Evenings of Norse Mythology featuring a stellar lineup of musicians and storytellers. Saturday's show will start at 7pm, Sunday's at 5pm.

Tickets £12 in advance (plus booking fees) available throughDesignMyNight.com https://www.designmynight.com/london/whats-on/something-a-little-different-events/an-evening-of-norse-mythology?t=tickets

The Embers Storytellers will be providing enchanting, sea faring tales. Followed by the rowdy and rum soaked shanties of party favourites Cap'n Yoshke and the Running Bowlines. We're then going to be bombarded with the broadside beats of The Family Tree DJs into the early hours. Of course we've got a few surprises up our crow's nest to throw your way as well!

So assemble your crew, throw on your finest Buccaneer gear and sail down the Victoria Line to Styx and join us for a barrel of grog.

An evening of stories and music around the theme of THE COSMOS in The Others in Stoke Newington.

Cosmos- opposite of chaos, regarded as the complex and orderly system of the universe. It is a topic that has been mused over for as long as man has been able to think. Through mythology and folklore, cultures have attempted to make sense of the endless space we find ourselves embeded within. From the origin of the stars and planets to the cycles of the sun and moon, we will be bringing you stories that shine a light on how other cultures viewed The Cosmos and our position within it.
