Every time we tell a tale, we are stirring the embers of our ancestors.
The Embers Collective is a London based storytelling and live music group. Formed by three friends; a writer, an actor and a musician in 2016. Driven by a passion for the art of sharing stories we wanted to put on events with a focus on community and connection.
We adapt world mythology, weaving stories and songs into a live, evolving musical landscape. We put on regular events in venues, festivals, forests and fields all over the UK and beyond.
Welcome to our warm embrace.
‘I love The Embers Collective. For us, they've taken a group of people round a campfire on a journey into the underworld, moved seamlessly from norse myths into late night jamming at one of our festival stages, and even created a specially commissioned tale for our stage this year's Shambala. Their work is joyous, immersive, and moving - will be booking them again!’ Thom Ashworth, Programme Manager-The Nest Collective
‘You guys were just pure magic I'm in love ! Thank you.’
‘This was a lot of fun, tears and laughter’
‘Definitely one of the highlights of Shambala this year! Thank you guys!’
If you'd like to have us perform at your venue or for your special event, don't hesitate to get in touch.
WHO WE ARE
Lonan is a writer, storyteller and teacher. Born and raised in Ireland and having lived in the cold north of Europe, he finds himself drawn to the epics of Celtic and Norse Mythology. In his work he has always been motivated by the importance of education and community; two things which continue to influence his storytelling and writing.
To his disappointment on his 12th Birthday, Tim Karp received a black and white Squire Stratocaster instead of a Scalextric. Reluctantly he began to play and his natural talent soon became a passion. 18 years later and he has since travelled to many countries, jamming with locals and learning music from across the world. A musician who teaches his passion in schools across London and finds time to play in a multitude of bands; from Balkan, Samba, cinematic sound, mashed up hits and originals.
SAM RIX (Rixy)
Rixy is an actor, writer and theatre maker. His passion is working with people, devising shows and telling stories in any which way he can. He adores the spontaneity of live performance, throwing himself and the audience into twisted tales filled with humour.
Tim, Sam and Lonan have the pleasure of regularly working with a wonderful bunch of professional storytellers, actors, musicians and artists from London and beyond. Some of these include Thalissa Nuttall Teixeira; actor and piskie Lucy Mangan; incredible storyteller Sarah Liisa Wilkinson; Sian Kidd, artistic director of puppetry company Mirth and Misery; professional storyteller Vanessa Woolf of London Dreamtime; singer, songwriter and guitarist Mishka Adams; singer and songwriter Dominic Martin; musician Imran Khan; Kieron Maguire from Cabinet of Living Cinema; Tim Doyle and Josh Middleton of Don Kipper; Actor Alex Appleby; Hannah Mi Anis of Firewater Bellydance Collective; Actor Leah Egan; party and vibes creators The Provibers and many more. We recently put together an immersive theatre, storytelling and music show called REWILDING with Marbles & Ware Collective for Meadows in The Mountains Festival in Bulgaria. If you'd like to get involved, give us a shout.
